2023 Spirit of Toronto

We stopped by Roy Thomson Hall to check out the Spirit of Toronto, an annual showcase of the finest whiskies and premium spirits worldwide.

And when you say premium spirits, you know we must find premium rum. We first sampled Plantation Rum blended from a combination of Barbados, Jamaica and Trinidad rums.

We also tried Rum Rats, blended in Panama and finished in Kincardine, Ontario. And you know, We had to taste some premium Guyanese rum, aka Caribbean cognac, where I got to reconnect with my old friend Shaun Caleb, the master distiller for El Dorado Rum. I also chatted with another Caribbean son Paul Allanby who makes the beautiful Levenswater Gin.

Now while our host Alain loves rum, and he met with a couple of viewers who said he had to drink some whisky, and he was not disappointed. Now Alain said how he noticed that many whiskies are aged in Caribbean casks, so we guess Scotland is a destination stop for Caribbean Vibrations!!!
