We spoke with Renee Neufville, award-winning Singer, Writer and Producer. She was one half of the Grammy-nominated duo #zhane. We chatted with her about her Jamaican 🇯🇲 heritage, career and upcoming show, “Flavours and Vibes,” at Performing Arts Brampton.
Renée Neufville, the Grammy-nominated lead vocalist from Zhané whose hits “Hey Mr. DJ” and “Sending My Love” have been covered by artists like Common, Donald Glover, and many more.
After Zhané disbanded in the late 1990s, Neufville pursued a solo career and worked as a background vocalist for various artists, including Mary J. Blige, John Legend, and Will Smith. In 2013, she released her debut solo album, “The Quiet Ones,” which blended R&B, jazz, and soul elements. In addition to her music career, Neufville has worked as an actress and voiceover artist and has appeared in films such as “Brown Sugar” and “Just Wright.”
She has also been involved in various charitable organizations, including the United Nations Foundation’s Girl Up campaign, which works to empower adolescent girls in developing countries.
