We speak with Muhammad Muwak, one of the lead vocalists of the musical group Freetown Collection. We talk about their music, their philanthropic efforts and their upcoming concert in Canada for the 2023 Toronto Carnival season.
At the centre of Freetown Collective are Muhammad Muwakil and Lou Lyons, poets, lyricists and musicians. Joined onstage by the distinct voices and harmonies of three young women, often affectionately referred to as “the Trinity” or “the Freetown Lionesses”, the group’s motto is “a whole world to change.” Freetown uses music to bridge the gap between old and new while giving younger generations a strong voice in an ever-changing world
