The Denver Nuggets beat the Miami Heat 94 – 89 for a total of 4 games to 1 to capture the 2022/2023 NBA World Championship. They were led by NBA Finals MVP Nicola Jokic and the only person to ever average double-digit assists in an NBA final, the incomparable Jamal Murray, the Canadian from Kitchener, Ontario, who is of Jamaican heritage. Jamal thanked his father, Roger Murray (who moved from Jamaica to Canada), for supporting him through thick and thin, especially after a gruesome injury two years ago.
