The Islands of the Bahamas were alive and well with the opening of the new Consulate General in Toronto. It was a historical event as the Island of Bahamas now has a diplomatic office in the most populous centre in Canada.
It was a grand affair with several dignitaries from the Bahamas who flew in to attend this prestigious event, including the Prime Minister, the Honourable Philip E. Davis.
Later that night, the officials met the Bahamian diaspora in Toronto at a standing-room-only event. After the festivities, they enjoyed a Rake & Scrape Junkanoo celebration. We look forward to celebrating their 50th year of Independence on Caribbean Vibrations!
