Reggae Artist Justice Kumari

We sit down with Reggae Artist to talk about his influences, his new music and his performance at the Living Arts Centre in Mississauga.

Justice Kumari, born Tyler Lee, is a talented 20-year-old musician from Scarborough, Ontario, with a rich cultural background of Chinese, Indian, and Chinese Jamaican heritage. Coming from a family deeply rooted in music, he was surrounded by creative influences from an early age. His father, renowned musician Mikey Lee, and other family members frequently rehearsed and performed with prominent reggae and dancehall stars, shaping Justice’s passion for music.

Despite being born with several medical conditions affecting his mouth, nose, and ears, Justice found solace and development through music. From the age of five, he began playing the drums, followed by learning the piano at nine, and later mastering the bass and guitar by fourteen. Eventually, he realized the potential of his voice as his primary instrument. Over the years, Justice has fused his reggae and dancehall roots with various genres to create a unique sound that resonates with a wide range of listeners.

Justice takes inspiration from all aspects of life—whether it be happiness, sadness, love, heartbreak, or social injustices—and crafts his music in a way that connects deeply with his fans. Unfazed by the pressure to live up to his family’s musical legacy, Justice remains focused on honing his craft and creating the best possible sound for his audience. Justice is committed to continuing his musical journey, with plans to release more original material and perform live regularly, ensuring his supporters always have something new to look forward to.
