At the Ontario Black History Month Society Luncheon, we spoke with the first black and longest-serving Black Senator in North America The Honourable Anne Cools. As a social worker, Cools was a pioneer in the protection of women from domestic violence, running one of the first domestic violence shelters in Canada. She retired from the Senate on August 12, 2018.
